The Importance of Mothers

A young man was standing at the grocery store checkout line when he noticed an elderly woman in front of him. As she unloaded her grocery cart, she kept looking up and staring at him. After a few awkward moments, he asked, “Why do you keep staring at me?” The woman said, “I'm sorry, but it's just that you look exactly like my son who recently died." "I'm so sorry to hear that," the young man replied. "Is there anything I can do for you?" "Yes," she said. “As I leave, if you would say, 'Goodbye, Mother,' it would make me feel so much better because I need closure." "I’d be glad to do that for you," he answered. As the old woman was leaving, he called out, "Goodbye, Mother!" After unloading his cart, the bill came to $147.50. "How can that be?" he asked the clerk. "I only purchased a few items." “Oh,” the clerk replied, "your mother said that you would pay for her."
A four-year-old and a six-year-old presented their mom with a house plant for Mother’s Day. They had used their own money, and she was thrilled. The older of them said with a sad face, "There was a bouquet at the flower shop that we wanted to give you, but it was too expensive. It was real pretty, and it had a ribbon on it that said, 'Rest In Peace.' We thought it would be just perfect for you since you’re always asking for a little peace so that you can get some rest."
On a more serious note, please consider these Bible verses on the importance of mothers...
Proverbs 31:2 Her children rise up and call her blessed. Her husband also, and he praises her.
Proverbs 1:8-9 Hear, my son, your father’s instruction, and forsake not your mother’s teaching, for they are a graceful garland for your head and pendants for your neck.
Proverbs 6:20-22 My son, keep your father’s commandment, and forsake not your mother’s teaching. Bind them on your heart always; tie them around your neck. When you walk, they will lead you; when you lie down, they will watch over you; and when you awake, they will talk with you.
Proverbs 10:1 A wise son makes a glad father, but a foolish son is a sorrow to his mother.
Proverbs 20:20 If one curses his father or his mother, his lamp will be put out in utter darkness.
Proverbs 23:22-25 Listen to your father who gave you life, and do not despise your mother when she is old. Buy truth, and do not sell it; buy wisdom, instruction, and understanding. The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice; he who fathers a wise son will be glad in him. Let your father and mother be glad; let her who bore you rejoice.
Proverbs 29:15 The rod and reproof give wisdom, but a child left to himself brings shame to his mother.
