The Aroma of Christ

The Lord's church in the 1st century grew and grew and did great things because of basically one reason: 1st century Christians had accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior, and they were so filled with Him in their lives, so filled with joy and peace and excitement, that people of the world saw it and said, “I've got to have what those people have!” Jesus was living in those early Christians, and other people could clearly see it.
In Galatians 2:20, Paul said, "I have been crucified with Christ: and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and delivered Himself up for me."
Actual sacrifices in those days were said to have a sweet fragrance that came up out of that sacrifice. When generals would march down the streets in their triumphant procession, others in that parade would offer up a fragrant incense in worship to their gods. Paul is saying that as Christians we need to truly sacrifice ourselves. That means giving our whole lives to Christ. And when we do, there will be this sweet fragrance of Christ that will come forth from us. And not only is it for God to behold, but it is a fragrance for all to behold.
Do people around you behold the fragrance of Christ in your life?
