The Precious Blood of Jesus   

As you may know, the book of Hebrews was written to Jewish Christians in the early days of the church. It was written so that they could better understand why there was a change in their covenant with God. The writer very well explains throughout the book that the new covenant through Christ is far superior to the one which went before it.
In Hebrews 9:11-14, he speaks about the sacrifice of Jesus compared to the sacrifices of animals under the previous Jewish covenant. In v13, the writer concedes that the old animal sacrifices did secure for them some degree of purification. But how much more effective, in fact, how thoroughly effective in fully cleansing us is the blood of Jesus Christ the Divine Son of God!
And notice the last part of v14. That precious blood of Jesus not only cleanses us from the guilt of our sins, but it enables us to really get rid of those dead works of the flesh, those worldly things which give no benefit at all to our lives. Indeed those sinful and dead works lead even to death and eternal destruction. And when we get rid of those dead works, then that precious cleansing blood enables us (and certainly it motivates us) to truly and more fully serve our Father.
Let us remember how great it is to be set free from the guilt and power of sin. And let us commit ourselves once again to giving our lives back to God in service to Him.

Room for More in the Family of God    In Luke 19:10 , Jesus said, “The Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.”   Similarly, Paul told Timothy, “ This is a faithful/trustworthy saying, and it deserves full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners” (1 Timothy 1:15).   It was 2000 years ago that our Lord came to give His life to save sinners, but there are still so many remaining who need salvation.   In Christ’s parable of the great supper, the servant went into the streets of the city and brought back many people.   But then he reported back to his master, “Lord, what y ou commanded has been done , and yet still there is room for more” (Luke 14:22).   God is still a God of abundant love and amazing grace , and t here is still room for more in the f amily of God!  And certainly we know there is still plenty of room in this our Pontotoc C hurch F amily for many more to come to Christ! God Cares About You    Allow me to tell you about a young man who had a very bad day. He was a good kid, went to church, and was very involved in his youth group. He was well-liked at school, got good grades, and didn’t get into any trouble. He was always willing to share and help people. He even volunteered every summer at a camp for people with special needs and handicaps. This was a good kid. He played baseball every year since he was 5 years old, and he played on his school team for 3 year s.
